Bob kept entertained by listening to Books on Tape, as evidenced by his tape player. He had already plowed through several massive tomes by NM, and had a stack of others to listen to for the remaining 1900 miles. The virtually featureless terrain from eastern NM through KS requires mental fortitude as well as stimulation, and the taped books should help remove some of the monotony.
