MKT350 Project

You will form your own groups of 4-5 individuals, with whom you will be working the duration of the term. Your task is to prepare a busines plan for a new e-commerce portal.

Before each group proceeds in their project, they must submit a proposal to the professor for his approval. Upon receiving approval, the group may commence their propject.

The written document must include discussion of appropriate domain name for your business, the revenue model, the type(s) of products and services you propose to sell, the general layout and appearance of your site, the role that databases will drive your business, and the essential features of your site. Basically, you are doing everything except actually designing the site. However...if you are motivated to showcase your HTML abilities, you are encouraged to do this for extra consideration of your grade.

Each group must submit two (2) paper copies of the project, which must conform to the following requirements:

  • The paper must be typed on a computer and printed on a laser printer or high-quality ink jet printer (if hard copy is submitted).
  • The paper must be double-spaced, using one-inch margins on all sides, with 12-point type.
  • The paper must include a cover page (with title and group member names), and text (not to exceed 20 pages). Optional exhibit pages are allowed in any quantity, as long as they are referenced in the text of the paper.
  • A References section must be included that lists all references cited in the text of the paper.

As an option, you may submit your project via electronic media, meaning CD-ROM, ZIP-disk, or floppy disk, but this option may only be used if you are also submitting HTML materials. Please, however, restrict your word processing activities to either Word or Word Perfect!

Both copies of your paper (or disks) are due in my office not later than 5 pm on Monday 19 April 2004.

Materials and other instructions regarding your project will be added here on a regular basis throughout the semester. Please remember to check here frequently!
